Manchester City have reportedly smashed the British transfer-fee record by agreeing on a £54 million deal for Atletico Madrid striker Radamel Falcao.
The Daily Mirror was first to break the news:Radamel Falcao will become Manchester City's first signing of the Manuel Pellegrini era after the Etihad club agreed a British record transfer fee for the Atletico Madrid striker. City have met the £54 million buy-out clause in the Colombian's Atletico contract to snatch him away from incoming Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho. The report goes on to say that Falcao is expected to sign on a deal worth more than £200,000 per week, though no official details are known about the reported deal.

Did Manchester City make the right move with Radamel Falcao?
It would also put an increasing spotlight on the futures of both Carlos Tevez and Edin Dzeko, who have both been linked away from Manchester City earlier this week, per Goal.com (via Yahoo! Sports) and the Daily Mail, respectively.
The summer transfer window formally opens on July 1.
